The Jarrons family have farmed the land at Hatton of Ogilvy farm since 1910. Technological developments and issues of sustainability have changed the way the farm has been managed and run through history. With this in mind; Graeme and Caroline teamed up with a PHD student from Herriot Watt University’s distilling programme to produce potato vodka from their supermarket rejects, in order to diversify and reduce wastage. The Maris Piper potatoes are grown a short tractor ride from the still and the nutritious by-products of production is fed to the cows. This makes Scotland’s first potato vodka not only award winning for its taste, but also environmentally friendly.
