1. Barua Street Food: If you’re craving authentic Indian street food, look no further than Barua. Open Wednesday to Saturday from 5.30 pm to 10.30 pm, this brand-new venue in Keswick offers delectable Indian dishes designed for sharing. Try their Barua nuts or Masala Pad Pad to start, followed by a Vada Pav (Bombay Burger), amongst many other curries to dip your Paratha bread into. Don’t miss their Indian-inspired cocktails.
2. Lake Road Brunch: For the ultimate breakfast, brunch, and lunch experience, head to Lake Road Brunch. They claim to have the “best sausages in town” and homemade hash browns, they serve a range of mouth-watering dishes, from smashed avocado on seeded sourdough to tandoori fish flatbread. They also boast Pancake and Vegan menus, not to mention the cocktails.
3. The Round: Craving burgers and cocktails? The Round is your go-to spot in Keswick. Its name is inspired by The Bob Graham Round and anyone completing or even attempting racing over 42 peaks and 28,000 ft of ascent in only 24 hours thoroughly deserves a round or two. This vibrant restaurant and bar offer excellent burgers and loaded fries. Of course, you can wash that Pike O’Pickle burger down with their extensive cocktail menu all in a lively atmosphere. 4. The Fellpack: This warm and friendly bistro, Fellpack is known for its innovative twists on classic dishes. With a short and seasonal menu, offering a variety of “Fellpots” that are unapologetically eclectic. They promise a memorable dining experience. Make sure to try their unique creations.
5. Bar eS: If you’re a fan of Mexican-inspired tapas dishes, Bar eS Tapas is the place to be. They offer a range of craft beers and cocktails in a rustic and relaxed setting. Their menu includes gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options. They offer tables up to 8 people and are dog friendly. They also have a resident DJ on Fridays for the party people.
6. The Square Orange: A Kindred Spirits favourite, The Square Orange is an intimate, cosy bar and eatery serving stone-baked Roman-style pizza, tapas, and desserts. They also have a vegan menu and a full tapas menu. Tapas dishes such as Stuffed Vine Leaves, King Prawns and Whole Baked Camembert will be sure to leave you satisfied. 7. Derwent Walker Cocktail Bar and Restaurant: Indulge in a culinary journey of flavoursome dishes at The Derwent Walker. With mouth-watering options like Salt & Pepper Crispy Chicken Bao Buns, Stuffed Yorkshire Pudding and Plumb Duck Breast you can’t go wrong. They also have some very special cocktail creations for you to discover.
8. The Thyme Bistro: Offering an extensive à la carte menu and seasonal specials, The Thyme Bistro is a great choice for a quality dining experience. Stand out dishes such as Chicken a la’ Crème, succulent Beef Bourguignon and Gnocchi in a blue cheese sauce have us sold. They also have a wide selection of affordable wines and offer private parties and group bookings.
9. The Pheasant Inn, Keswick: A traditional pub that takes pride in serving high-quality food and local real ales. Enjoy dishes like free-range pork Cumberland sausage, their legendary fish pie, and other chef’s specialties. The Pheasant serve well-kept real ales and have Indoor and outdoor dining options are available, all providing a true Lakeland ambience.
10. Merienda: Aside from being your go-to place for a reviving cup of coffee, delicious home-baked cakes, Merienda also open in the evening providing hearty food made with fresh local ingredients. We were sold when we read their menu… Teriyaki Beef Tacos, Chipotle Chicken Breast and Corn Fritters. “Get in our bellies!” Well-behaved dogs and weary hikers are always welcome.
11. Casa Bella: For a taste of Italy in Keswick, Casa Bella offers freshly made Italian classics and inspired dishes. Don’t forget to try their homemade gelato. Head chef Gianni Murtaza imprints his passion for wholesome Italian food onto the menu with specials like a 10oz Lamb Leg Steak, an Italian Bean Chilli and a trio of stuffed peppers called Capsico Ripeni. What makes this place truly special is their super tasty, ultra-thin pizza crust and a variety of delicious toppings. The pizzas are made from scratch, and they even offer a gluten-free option for those with dietary preferences.
13. Keswick Kitchen: Located at the Keswick Golf Club, slightly outside the centre of Keswick. The renowned Chef David Jackson, who has earned numerous awards and accolades, including the honour of cooking for His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, brings his culinary expertise to this delightful establishment.
